What does your watch say about you?

So what does your watch say about you? Are you a fast-paced high flying business man? Are you a cool and laid back sensual woman? Or are you playful with your clock face?
All of these things can, apparently, be determined by which watch you choose to wear. Now despite the tradition, watches can be worn on either wrist it all simply depends on the individual.
Nowadays a watch spells out what status you have. Do you have a Rolex? If you are one of the lucky few, then you are very fortunate to, apparently be of a higher status than those around you. The symbol of money is now more powerful than ever and for those that do not have it, when they seek out somebody who quite clearly does have it, then you will be placed on a pedestal in their eyes.
This theory of course relates to the celebrity era we live in, we rave on and on about ‘celeb bling’ until we are blue in the face, however it doesn’t actually mean a thing when you step back and look at it with open eyes.
So if you are wearing a cheaper perhaps plastic watch, where does society’s opinion place you? Well yes, as we are so focused nowadays on the price tag of items this will place you at the bottom of the barrel.
Does a watch really tell you what you need to know about a person? We all like expensive things I suppose, but I don’t believe it shapes who you are. But, if you are shaped by the clock on your wrist, then good luck! .

Watches and the fall of sentiment

Do you remember your first watch? Either a Disney princess brightly coloured plastic number for the girls and an action hero one for the boys. Telling the time used to be fun, and our watches were our own way of announcing at a young age just what sort of thing we liked. They do say that watches accentuate a person’s traits and show us for whom we are.
Now of course I wouldn’t take it that far, yes watches show our creative side I suppose but it’s true that watches do have a certain amount of sentimental value. Whether you have your great grandfather’s pocket watch as an heirloom or even if you’ve kept the Disney princess one, all of these possessions are treasured.
The sadness nowadays is that the simple things such as watches are losing their value. I’m not talking about the pound signs; I’m talking about the sentimental, simple and easy value that comes with classical and timeless items. Nowadays it appears that the more expensive a watch; the better it is likely to be. This really isn’t the case.
The world of watches also suffers at the feet of technology as well to the hefty pay checks. With virtually everybody we have ever met, including ourselves owning an IPhone, why do we need watches? Of course this is true, with our phones planted firmly in a hands and one simple flick away we have the time.
Really we are all slaves to technology of course, but we must try not to lose classic values and simplicities. It isn’t just watches that are affected by the current changes, there are many sentimental items being torn apart by the evolving 21st century.

Many people really don't understand the type of weird and wonderful things you can find out on YouTube and the kind of information you can retrieve, but in the age of technology people love recording videos for many different reasons and showing off their watch is just one of them.
